Meet The Founders
Mark and Helen Reimer are the founders of Freiheit Care.
Mark is a medical doctor. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and is dual-licensed to practice general surgery in Ontario and Quebec. Mark also has an MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Mark passionately believes that you deserve to receive the best possible care.
In his spare time, Mark loves cross country skiing and swimming. He enjoys learning about information technology and often finds new insights into the meaning of life when he studies the Bible and as he strives to live as a faithful Christian.
Helen is the CEO of Freiheit Care Inc.
Helen is passionate about employee development and bringing freedom to the lives of clients and staff. She knows that we cannot offer quality services to you as the end user, unless we proactively invest in, value and develop everyone involved in offering those services. Helen has held senior leadership positions in a variety of non-profits since 2007 and is currently Chair of Tearfund Canada. She is delighted to have been part of the leadership team of a charity which won the Sunday Times (UK) “Best Company To Work For” Award in 2008 and 2009.
Helen also loves anything outdoors, be it cross country or downhill skiing, cycling or swimming. She volunteers as a guide and instructor for skiers with disabilities and visual impairments with CADS.

Although we can’t put all our front line team on our web-site, we did want to give you the opportunity to meet some of our amazing team.
Lilli, a valued PSW at Freiheit Care since 2023, is deeply committed to providing exceptional care to elderly clients. With genuine compassion and dedication, Lilli goes above and beyond to ensure the well-being and comfort of those under her care.
Beyond her caregiving role, Lilli finds joy in various hobbies. She expresses her creativity through crochet, gracefully embraces the art of Highland Dance, and cherishes quality time playing tabletop games with her loved ones.
Lilli’s kindhearted nature and unwavering dedication quickly established her as a key part of the Freiheit Care team.
Adejoke is a compassionate and skilled caregiver with over a decade of experience providing exceptional care to individuals in need. With a focus on personal support work, she has a proven track record in assisting clients with daily living activities, administering emotional and social support, and ensuring their overall well-being. Since joining our team in 2023, she has been a cornerstone of our caregiving staff, renowned for her attention to detail, empathy, and dedication to improving the lives of those she serves.
Adejoke has worked extensively in both the United States and Canada, offering high-quality care in care homes, hospitals, and private residences. Dedicated to continuous improvement, Adejoke enjoys reading more about how to care for elderly people.
Jane has been a Registered Nurse (RN) for 22 years, mostly in the ER. She now works in Long Term Care and in clients’ homes. Her widespread experience includes senior management roles as well as as nursing care.
Jane joined Freiheit Care in 2023, providing exceptional nursing care to our clients. She has formed great friendships with our clients and is always eager to go above and beyond.
In her spare time, Jane and her husband are parents to seven tiny rescue dogs! They also volunteer time with the rescue helping with fundraising and driving.
Chantal has over three years of dedicated experience as a Personal Support Worker and has been an integral part of our team for more than a year. She provides high-quality care to seniors, excelling in assisting with daily living activities, monitoring changes in residents’ conditions, and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Fluent in French, Chantal is skilled in fostering meaningful relationships with clients and their families. Her approach emphasizes compassion, attention to detail, and maintaining a clean, organized, and comfortable environment.
Chantal is committed to delivering exceptional care and responding promptly to clients’ needs. Her dedication makes her a valued member of our caregiving team.
Sheshalom has been working as a Caregiver/PSW since 2019 and has been with Freiheit Care since 2024. She primarily provided live-in care in the US before moving to Canada in 2023.
Being able to support others and help them live as comfortably and independently as possible is deeply fulfilling for Sheshalom. She says “nothing brings me more joy than seeing my clients smile and have a positive day, knowing that my care made a difference.”
Outside of work she enjoys reading and listening to music. She has a passion for learning and embraces every opportunity to grow by listening, exploring and discovering new things.
Takondwa is a new member of our team at Freiheit, and is a dedicated caregiver with experience from both Malawi and Canada. She values building meaningful relationships with residents and their families, ensuring that their needs and preferences are thoughtfully addressed. This passion was one of the reasons we hired her.
Takondwa also has a strong foundation in business administration, including a Bachelor’s degree. She is committed to lifelong learning and improving the standards of senior care. Alongside working at Freiheit Care she is pursuing her studies in Retirement Communities Management.
In her free time she enjoys watching movies, travel and making memories with friends and family. She believes in making everyone smile, as her name Takondwa means “we are happy”!
Daniela grew up in Montreal and moved to Ottawa in 2020, bringing her dedication to caregiving with her. She joined Freiheit not long after her move, in 2021. She has experience in both personal care and housekeeping and is currently a student.
Daniela’s passion for creativity and helping others shines through in everything she does. Her most utilized hobbies are lyric writing and jewelry making.
Newly arrived in Canada in 2022, Ajjima is a Registered Nurse with 30 years of experience in Thailand in Hospitals, Retirement Centres and Private Clinics. She also volunteered on a regular basis with the Red Cross.
She has been working as a Personal Support Worker in Canada since August 2024. Ajjima is dedicated, compassionate and loves to work with senior citizens. She consistently develops strong relationships with clients and their families through empathetic communication, a respectful attitude and excellent customer service.
Cooking is a passion of hers, and she loves reading to get more knowledge. She also really enjoys hiking and cycling.
Florence is a compassionate and highly skilled Personal Support Worker with over five years of experience in patient care and support.
With a background as a Registered Nurse in Ghana, Florence brings a wealth of knowledge in direct patient care, including assisting with daily living activities, planning nutritious meals, maintaining safe and positive environments, and supporting mental health. She is adept at coordinating care with healthcare professionals and fostering strong relationships with clients and their families.
Florence is detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to delivering exceptional care. Her empathetic approach and strong organizational skills make her a trusted member of our caregiving team.
Meet The Admin Team
The behind-the-scenes work allows all our front line staff to focus on their clients.
Shahedur has worked with Mark and Helen since 2014 and leads the administrative and human resources team. He has extensive experience with global team management and holds a degree in accounting from Heriot-Watt University, in the UK. He also obtained a PGD in Human Resource Management.
Shahedur is fueled by his passion for understanding the nuances of cross-cultural team management. He considers himself a ‘forever student,’ eager to build on both his academic foundations in accounting and human resources management, and to stay in tune with the latest inventions of information technology through the internet.
In his free time, Shahedur loves to travel. He also enjoys coding, playing games on his Xbox360, watching movies and reading books. Shahedur believes mindfulness in the workplace is the key to success.
Mohammad has been with Freiheit for over a year, working as a HR Coordinator. With more than eight years of professional experience, he specializes in coordinating and managing caregiver schedules to ensure seamless service delivery. His role involves addressing last-minute changes, resolving client and caregiver concerns, and maintaining compliance with caregiving standards.
Mohammad holds an MBA with a major in Human Resource Management. His academic background strengthens his expertise in managing complex HR operations and fostering strong relationships with clients and caregivers.
Outside of work, Mohammad enjoys learning new things, reading, and spending time with his family.
Jessa is a dedicated nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa (2017) and a Practical Nursing diploma from Algonquin College (2008). She has worked in various roles, including caregiver, PSW, RPN, and RN, with experience in Palliative Care, Rehabilitation, Community, Respiratory and Ventilator care, and more.
Jessa volunteers on the Board of Directors for Courageous Companions, a nonprofit providing service dogs to disable veterans and first responders. She enjoys sewing, crafting, exploring the outdoors, and staying active in the gym, balancing her career with personal passions.
